A Personal Aspect

1. My observation of intercultural differences

My temporary change of domicile from an industrialised Germany to a less developed Peru was like a transition into another world. This idea was formed in my head by the contact with people of very different characters and by my adjustment to their style of living. It was interesting to get to know their way of thinking and to understand these. Through dialogues and group discussions I found explanations for their actions.

How do I have to behave?

Report by Florian Ramírez Köhler

(20.05.11)

My name is Florian Ramirez Köhler and I am 22 years old. With the help of the Peru-Aid I was able to participate in a seminar of Festo Didactic. At the moment I study Industrial Engineering at the University of Ricardo Palma (last semester) in Lima, Peru.
At the same time I work at my university. In March a labatory for automation was built in by a German company. The problem was that no one really knew how to use it properly. An Assistance in Lima

(20.05.11)

In our study of medicine we need to do a practical training after our medical preliminary examination. Fortunately we have the possibility to make this experience in a foreign country. Therefore we were happy that with the support of the Peru-Aid we had the chance to go to a foreign country to get to know people and medicine.
In August 2002 we arrived in the foggy capital Lima and were welcomed heartily by Melva Delgado. At the next day our assistence in the Hospital del Nino began. It is a public hospital in a part of the city called Brena. Right from the beginning we were astonished by the … mehr

Then the ride to the city, past neon signs, dark corners and not finished buildings: half USA, half bomb attack. We get to know Melva Delgado who lives in Monterrico. Melva will become our Peruvian mother, considerately and friendly like the rest of the family. Their house is open for us, they show us the city and introduce us to the culture of this beautiful land.
Somehow the first day of work in the Hospital del Nino begins. … mehr

PERU`99

(16.05.11)

When we decided to go to Peru in the autumn of 1998, to do a part of our assistence, we did not know to what we had agreed to. Even when Mr.Görgens told us a lot about Peru and our place of work, the Hospital del Nino, there still was a doubt, if this had been the right decision. When we arrived in Peru our doubts were fast gone. We were welcomed heartily and everybody was very obliging towards us. The work in the hospital was very interesting and the doctors explained everything to us.
Especially the work in the plastic surgery was thrilling. There we were allowed to help … mehr
